Meet a 21st century apostle. Leivon Canary Kom grew up in remote rural India, the fifth of seven children, in poverty few can comprehend. With only two and a half years of formal schooling, he taught himself English by working through the King James Bible at night with the help of a Manipuri Bible, an English-Manipuri dictionary and a grammar book. For more than two decades, he has traveled India as an itinerant daily laborer, sharing the gospel wherever he goes in accord with Jesus’ instructions: “Therefore, as you go, disciple people in all nations” (Matt. 28:19, ISV). He travels with his wife of more than a decade, Somila, and their four sons, trusting God, carrying only a few clothes and tools, at one point feeding themselves with wild roots they foraged and boiled. This inspiring story, written on his cell phone, will introduce you to a passionate Christian who is driven to see people in the world’s most Hindu country come to know God.
