Linda Chism is a Texas-based Indie author whose characters tackle life-shattering challenges with faith, determination, and boundless courage.
Linda’s writing career began with contributions to periodicals like Guideposts, Angels on Earth, Reminisce, the Local Profile, and the Garland Texan. Her inspiring short stories were eventually published as non-fictional Amazon books.
Linda’s first foray into the fictional world, That Gentile Girl, features a headstrong young heroine, Emma Peterson, who flees frontier Missouri following the murder of her parents. Along her circuitous way west, she crosses the paths of the three brutal killers, whose fates intertwine with her own. The second novel, A Test Too Great, continues Emma's story in her promised land where she battles foes both human and natural. The third installment, San Bernardino Bound, chronicles Emma's move to southern California, straight into a hotbed of intrigue, deceit, and murder during the American Civil War.
The Indenture, loosely based on the heroic journey of an ancestor sent to America as an unwilling indentured servant, marks the beginning of Linda's second series. Gabriel Chisholm's story of survival weaves the best of both fiction and actual historical events in 18th century colonial Virginia. A second book, Courage in the Carolinas, carries the Chisholm saga into the savage battles of the Revolutionary War. The third book in the series, Tennessee Medicine Woman, incorporates the beauty of the Cherokee Indian culture into this continuing tale of courageous men and women.
When she is not writing, Linda enjoys puttering in her garden, chasing down family history, and serving as her church historian.
