A native Californian, this actor, musician, writer, comedian, author and filmmaker earned her MBA in Business Administration while transitioning from houseless to housed. She is a domestic violence survivor who finds healing in the arts. She combines art and activism, artivism. Lorinda is currently a commissioned playwright with the Robey Theatre Company. While living in Skid Row, she wrote the book Justice? Or...Just Me? and developed her 10 minute monologue of the same title. After ten years of performing the piece, she then was part of REDCAT’s (Roy and Edna Disney Cal Arts Theater)Spring Studio 2018 where she incorporated multi media. The intention was always for the piece to be a full length one woman show. Thirteen years after first writing the book, she has learned that it works better as a trilogy: Justice? Or...Just Me? The Bite, The Fight and the Flight. Her one woman shows will follow suit with the first show, Justice? Or... Just Me? The Bite. This show was an official recipient of the 2021 Hollywood Fringe Festival Diversity Scholarship awarded to productions with powerful community impact. Lorinda felt it was important for the books and the shows to coincide. Book 1 was published in June and the play premiered in August. During the pandemic, Lorinda wrote and directed a Short Film, The Virus. It won the award for Best Horror Comedy Micro Film at the Oregon Scream Week Horror Film Festival and is currently making the rounds at other film festivals.
