Lorraine Ash is the author of "Self and Soul: On Creating a Meaningful Life" (Cape House Books, 2012) and "Life Touches Life: A Mother's Story of Stillbirth and Healing" (NewSage Press, 2004). She also edited "Corona City: Voices from an Epicenter" (Magic Dog Press, 2020), an anthology of sixty-two first-person writings and color photography that chronicles life in New York and New Jersey when both states were the first COVID-19 epicenter in the US.
All these works feature memoirs, an old but evolving genre she believes in as a catalyst for personal healing and transformation.
"We each were born as a character into a large family and cultural story," she said, "and not always in the roles we would have chosen for ourselves. Then fate takes us in unexpected directions. Writing memoir is a way to weave our outer and inner lives to create meaning and trace and direct our evolving identities over time."
A former award-winning journalist, Ash works as a book editor, manuscript developer, and certified ghostwriter. She specializes in memoir and select nonfiction books. Her writing workshops are popular throughout the New York Metro Area and on Zoom.
Ash holds an MA degree in Public Communications from Fordham University, Bronx, New York, and a professional designation ghostwriting certificate from California State University, Long Beach. She belongs to the Writers and Publishers Network and the International Women's Writing Guild.
