Hi, I love writing. when I write I am in the zone, I feel it, smell it, touch it. So exciting. My novels are Thrillers and my latest is a Police Series. I used to work in a Police Station in East London. I learned a lot. I have, of course, changed names to protect the guilty! I worked with criminality and I also worked voluntarily in criminality. I have met the awesomely heroic but I have also met the sad, mad and seriously bad. I spoke with a chap I refer to as a mass murderer and it still haunts me today. I have worked with young people who were high on drugs, alcohol and sex. I have worked with paedophiles, and violent people. I have seen most of what life has to offer and some could be helped and some would never want to be helped. My novels reflect the gritty dark side of life and how the police cope with the rise in gangs, murders and child abuse. For most, our lives dont touch the underbelly of life out there on the streets. My lead character is a Sikh detective he is Sikh by birth and East Ender by choice. He is totally committed to solving crimes and bringing offenders to justice. The trouble is there is always collateral damage, usually to himself and his team. With the Met Police working hard to be politically correct and losing their label of being institutionally racist, Jaswinder Singh does not help matters with his myopic view that anything goes to ensure an arrest. There is a lot of dark humour in my novels. In real life, when the chips are down, and life is tough, you have got to laugh in the face of adversity or give up. I also write short stories and I love the genre, so different to writing novels. I love a twist at the end of a short story. I enjoy speaking engagements talking about writing and my varied experiences that I can bring to writing. I finish my talk with a short story and it always goes down well.
