Mark A. Parks, Jr. and his wife Connie own MarCon Consulting, a financial services company that has helped hundreds of individuals and companies with financial strategies, accounting, and organizational design for over twenty-five years. Mark has served as CFO for the 29th largest county in America (there are more than 3,000 counties in America) and he has managed the finances for one of America’s fastest growing cities. During his professional career, Mark has realized the severe disparities in people’s lives, especially women and he noted the difference centered around financial resources. The discovery contributed to Mark’s decision to write this book that focuses on women and investing. Mark embarked on this quest years ago after realizing his sister, an extremely well-educated person earning a high salary didn’t understand principles of investing. When he asked other women about investing, he discovered the need for this information was great and it was not related to any one demographic. Having read statistics that show nine of ten women will be responsible for their household finances at some point in their lives, Mark and Connie saw a huge opportunity to help improve the outcome of families. Educating women in mass could have an exponential impact on America’s family’s finances. Mark served as the financial expert for the CBS affiliate in Cleveland, Ohio, WOIO, informing audiences about the impacts of the financial markets and he has spoken at hundreds of financial seminars including periodic Women and Investing Seminars. Mark’s caring approach has helped him get access to women who willingly share concerns about their most challenging financial issues and then trust Mark to help guide them through the challenges. Mark graduated from Baldwin Wallace University with a BA Degree and the University of Phoenix with an MBA.
