The simple version is that I work full time for a high street bank and writing is something I enjoy in my spare time (alongside many other activities which are often an excuse to procrastinate and put off any actual writing).
My debut novel, Murder on the Moon, was a classic whodunnit, but with the modern twist that the victim is an astronaut on the newly established lunar base. My detective is on Earth while the astronauts from different nationalities and organisations remain on the moon. It never felt like sci-fi to me as we first went to the moon over fifty years ago and we're so close to going back. I don't know when that will be, but it will happen.
My second book involved a new group of characters closer to home. Deadman's Handle tells the story of teenager Ledasha trying to find out what happened when one of her friends went missing between the two stations on the Lynton and Lynmouth Cliff Railway. The team working at the railway were brilliant and very kindly hosted a fun book launch for me, and I must confess it's exciting to see Deadman's Handle in the gift shop next to the bottom station.
The latest novel to hit the shelves is Storm - The Emerald Sea, a children's pirate adventure. I had a lot of fun writing this, badgered constantly by my sons who read each chapter as soon as it was finished and then kept asking for the next one. They were great motivators and I'm now well on the way with the sequel. I hope you enjoy reading it as much as I did writing it!
