Marlene Resnick Simons has a long history of working with parents, children and professionals who work with children. She was a parent educator and curriculum developer for Families First, as well as a facilitator for Massachusetts Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Children. As a consultant to a number of school systems in Massachusetts, she helped to align programs for parents and teachers with classroom curriculum. Upon moving to Florida, she became a full-time writer and an adjunct professor at the University of South Florida. Her background includes a Master's Degree in Family Studies and training at the Program on Negotiation at Harvard Law School. She pursued a Ph.D. in Public Policy and Child Welfare for three years. Her first publication, "If Only They Came with Instructions, A Guide for Parents" was promoted by Healthy Families America. She has also written a series of books for children, illustrated by Connie Christensen. Those books were piloted in first-grade classrooms in Sarasota County, Florida, with great success. They are focused on the health and safety issues with which children are confronted and designed to be introduced in the classroom and brought home to share with family members. Marlene lives with her husband, Dr. Cliff Simons in Sarasota, Florida. They have children in California, Florida, Massachusetts and North Carolina, who they miss terribly due to the pandemic.
