Massimo Faggioli is full professor in the department of Theology and Religious Studies at Villanova University. He studied in Ferrara, Bologna, Tuebingen, and Turin, where he got his PhD in 2002. He taught at the University of Bologna, at the Free University of Bolzano and at the University of Modena-Reggio Emilia. He moved to the USA in the 2008 and he had been on the faculty at the University of St. Thomas (St. Paul MN) between 2009 and 2016. He is columnist for "Commonweal" and "La Croix International", and in Italy columnist for the magazine "Jesus" and staff writer for the independent Catholic magazine "Il Regno". His primary specialization is history of Christianity and Council Vatican II, religion and politics, and the new Catholic movements. His books and essays have been published in more than ten languages. Among his publications: - The Liminal Papacy of Pope Francis.
