Matthew Bernstein has a passion for history. While earning a Master’s at Cal State University, Northridge, Bernstein tracked intertextuality in the works Dashiell Hammett. Later, he wrote the first full-fledged biography of mining tycoon George Hearst, was appointed editor of the Wild West History Association Journal, and can frequently be found hiking through the California wilderness and along the Pacific Crest Trail. He teaches writing at Los Angeles City College and Harris Newmark Continuation School.
