Melissa Butterworth is an experienced mergers and acquisitions professional specializing in the laboratory industry. During the past twenty-six years, she has closed over $1.8 billion in deals specific to the clinical, molecular, and anatomical laboratory industry.
Along with her stepfather Bohdan Lucky, she founded Advanced Strategic Partners in Ponte Vedra Beach, Florida, in 2007. The company is a specialized M&A firm dedicated to providing laboratory industry expertise, market knowledge, and professional insight in structuring new revenue sales and marketing programs, business valuation, and M&A transaction advisory services. Clients range from hospital system and public laboratory companies to small to midsized laboratories.
Prior to launching Advanced Strategic Partners, Melissa spent fifteen years in laboratory sales and business development and held several key positions, including executive director of sales for a hospital outreach program, regional VP of sales, and national VP of managed care for a privately held Canada-based laboratory that went public in the US in 2000. She served as the director of hospitals for the Southeast division for one of the largest publicly traded laboratories in the US. In addition, Melissa has worked closely with a number of reputable national molecular testing companies.
In the course of her work, she advises laboratory business owners in the sale of their companies or the acquisition of other companies (seller and buyer transaction advisory services). She contacts the buyers and sellers, prepares businesses to be sold, negotiates and structures the deals, oversees the due diligence, works with the attorneys to draft the purchase agreements, and ensures that the majority of the deals that she is involved in cross the finish line.
