Michael Cassidy was born and raised in Limerick, Ireland. At nineteen, he talked his way onto a Dutch fishing vessel in county Waterford, then worked with the Dutch fishing fleet in the North Sea. He has traveled extensively all his life. Apart from Ireland and Holland, he has lived in Canada, The United States, Costa Rica and Brazil. He presently lives on a mountainside on a remote Philippine island. His second book, More Almost True Irish Stories was published on March 17th, 2020. He's just completed his third book, Outside Looking In. It's a selection from his column as a journalist with the Dumaguete Metro Post newspaper. It will be published in September 2020. He's presently writing his fourth book, Fifty Unwritten Letters which is scheduled for publication in March 2021. Some of his life experiences include being an initially failed, but subsequently successful father, permanent failure as a husband, homeless street person, but later living in affluence, hopeless drunk then non-drinker, bored insurance clerk then successful insurance broker, dangerously incompetent trawlerman, decent stage actor, adequate bartender, excellent waiter, temperamental restaurateur, non-practicing attorney, TV host, demented movie producer, newspaper publisher, concert promoter, failed then successful businessman, good friend, bad enemy, life long seeker, journalist, and author.
