Mike Yarbro was born and raised in Jackson, Mississippi. A master musician he played violin in the Jackson Junior Symphony Orchestra, was an all-star baseball player, a three-year tennis letterman who played singles in the state tennis finals. He played guitar, piano, violin, and mouth harp in the Tyrants rock and roll band during college and bought and sold over seven hundred horses to pay for his education, majoring in English and business administration. Before and after college at Mississippi State University, he was an avid horseman, rodeo cowboy, calf roper, racehorse trainer, and breeder. He traveled worldwide after forming his company, which imported and exported heavy road building construction machinery and offshore lift cranes to deep sea drilling companies. He worked with USA and foreign road building contractors on World Bank development projects in developing countries supplying construction machinery. Travels throughout America, North and South America, Europe, the middle East, Asia and the Caribbean provided him varying views of vastly different economic and cultural conditions. Many of those adventures could have been deadly as he navigated through some of the most dangerous, filthy, and gorgeous places imaginable. He has been married to Marilyn Sue Childs Yarbro since 1968 and has two children and four grandchildren. He has been a member of Pinelake Baptist church since 1982 and is the author of three published books and countless articles.
