Hello, my name is Noah Marcello, and I moved to the United States with my parents at age eight. I knew very little English and was pushed around a lot in elementary school. I couldn't make friends with anyone. Worse, I was continually suspended for rumors that were spread about me. I couldn’t defend or explain myself because of my poor English. By the time I entered middle school, my English had vastly improved, but the damage to my self-esteem had already been done. If you met me in college, you would never believe I was a troubled kid who nearly didn’t make it to high school. The boy I was, desperately insecure, unable to make friends, and utterly consumed with what other people thought of him was gone. I had matured into a healthy, secure, and loving adult, and would go on to dedicate my life to helping others feel happy and secure in themselves.
