Nyla Naseer is a critical thinker in the field of social psychology, economics and wellbeing. She is Birmingham (UK) based and addresses complex subjects in a refreshingly down to earth and accessible way. She spent much of her career advising on change in the context of social, economic and cultural regeneration. Qualified in management, law and education, she is a fellow and previous chair of the RSA in the West Midlands and a Common Purpose Leadership graduate. She works internationally, adding to global discourse by presenting her views in books, articles and discussions.
Nyla investigates the issues that challenge us today: uncertainty, change, money, power and wellbeing, for example. She encourages us to consider how to approach new situations and look again at the way that we handle familiar ones. Challenging stereotypes and testing the untested, she gives voice to alternative perspectives.
A former advocacy specialist, she is not afraid to suggest unconventional solutions based on her own observations and research as opposed to conventional advice and rhetoric. A good example of her original thinking is her work on the power of walking to strengthen problem-solving, creative thinking and resilience.
Nyla has a BSc in Management Science, a Master of Law, specializing in corporate law and an MSc in Urban Regeneration.
Away from her writing, she can frequently be seen pounding the footpaths as a long-distance hiker.
