This historical western, in the spicy romantic spirit of Linda Lyle Miller, 'A Choice Between' is an intelligent, well written adventure that pulls you in and won't let go until the last page. ‘A Choice Between’ is Pam Bazemore's first novel. In the beginning, her intention for writing this book was for adventurous entertainment. Romance crept its way in when the story needed something to bind the journey together. Always looking for excitement and breathless anticipation of discovery and growth, Pam wanted the typical action she’d always sought for in a western. She’s read a lot of fiction. A few books were good, but some she’d quit reading after the first few chapters. Others she’d manage to complete but then not always left feeling satisfied or stimulated. Movies were better, but current Hollywood’s western heroes have so few redeeming qualities that it’s almost impossible to find ones with a hero for which one can cheer. And a great many romance novels lack the excitement and action that makes for a good, memorable story. She wanted a book to combine and balance the factors of adventure and romance with a little comedy thrown in for good measure. She hopes she’s managed to accomplish that with ‘A Choice Between.’ So come on and get on board. Let’s go for a wild ride. Born in Cleveland, TN, Pam Bazemore grew up a tomboy among all male cousins. Playing cowboys and Indians, softball, climbing trees, and riding bikes was way more fun than playing dolls and dress up. After high school and a year of college, she spent one season at a North Carolina Beach working at a campground, and then returned to Tennessee to work at numerous jobs from cashier to factory worker. She also spent six years in the TN Army National Guard and became the first female in East Tennessee to have a license to drive a tank. And it took a bit of doing, but she eventually found a man who loves and appreciates all the unique talents and special skills she’s accumulated along the way. In high school, writing poems and short stories started out as a hobby. Over the years, with personal journals filled with long lists of weird, strange, sometimes wonderful, sometimes scary adventures and life experiences, plus a love of 19th century history, a hobby became an obsession. The first chapter of ‘A Choice Between’ won this author first place in the 2015 Ozark Romance Writer’s Contest judged by Louise Fury from the Bent Agency. She was a finalist in the romance genre of the PNWA 2009 literary contest. This story also gave her third honorable mention in the 2009 CNW/FFWA Florida State Writing Competition, and put her in fifth place in the 2009 Inspiration for Writers contest.
