For many years, I struggled on the sharp edges of suicide, grieving over betrayals and loss in a vicious circle of denial, blaming, and shaming. Venturing forward despite fear and moving beyond feeling a victim, my back against the wall and fighting for my life, I used my voice and took action.
I overcame:
* my codependency and my husband’s alcoholism—we both entered recovery
* sexual abuse by my first psychotherapist—I sued him and pulled his license
* my fear of going beyond family rules and limits—establishing a new family lineage
* standing up to sexism, victim-blaming, and fear of owning my voice—realizing I am the creator and choice maker of my life.
Refusing to identify with the struggle itself, using what I’d learned, I went to graduate school and became a psychotherapist working with addiction, codependency, and trauma recovery.
But it was the life-threatening injury that encouraged me to share with others my spiritual experiences as a child, along with more I held within through the years. With all of this, my spiritual search deepened.
What I learned from my life journey is we are all eternally held within a huge field of Universal Love, God, or whatever name we wish to use. No one is left out. Not. One. Person. We humans just deny our connection to this Divinity, believing we are separate. Our belief in separation is what creates the pain and negativity we experience in this world. True peace comes from walking off this inner battlefield and coming home to our soul. I believe it is our life’s calling to do this journey.
