I never really aspired to be a writer. I am an entrepreneur at heart. But, for all of my adult life, I had felt that something was dreadfully wrong in America, I just couldn't quite put my finger on it. So I studied...a lot. I read history, not just history books.
Having been born and raised in the South by parents who grew up during the Great Depression, a father who served in WWII and Korea, and a mother who was determined that I would be "educated", I thought I knew my history better than most. I may have, but I still had come up short. What I found shocked me, saddened me, infuriated me, but above all, has driven me to do something to make a difference. So it is that I have chosen to write.
My passion is American Liberty; namely, the principles of State Sovereignty, federated union, and individual freedom and responsibility. We have lost all of these to a large degree. Partly because we have rejected them, but mostly because we forgot about them. America suffers from "amnesia of the collective conscience"; and the prognosis is devastating. Part of my purpose in writing is to remind us all of what we have lost. Then, we can choose whether or not we will embrace it, or flatly reject it.
Honest liberals and conservatives alike should enjoy my work. It is fair, and to the best of my human ability, it is truth. I never ask my readers to take me at my word; rather, I ask them to think about it and go find the truth for themselves. It is there to be found, but you won't find it from the usual "outlets". Read the history. Then act on it.
For Liberty,
Phil Cooper
