Phil Pierce is the respected author of Mental Combat, Self Defense Made Simple, and several other titles in the martial arts, self-defense, and fitness genres.
Holding black belt and instructor-level ranks in multiple styles, Phil has spent decades training and teaching in disciplines such as Shaolin Kung Fu, TaeKwonDo, Thai Boxing, Escrima, Xingyi, and Chi Gong. His martial arts journey has taken him to dojos and training schools around the world—from China and Thailand to the UK, USA, and beyond—offering him a rich insight into diverse cultures and combat philosophies.
Over the years, he’s had the privilege of training with world champions, respected Chinese masters, and even a few stars of film and TV.
Phil lives in Warwickshire, UK, where he enjoys hiking, motorcycles, and occasionally dabbling in graphic design.
