Rachael started writing short stories and poems at a young age and had a poem published in America. She wrote her first novel aged thirteen, entered a few competitions and was then distracted by almost thirty years of a successful IT career and motherhood. From admin support, technical author, trainer to technical project manager. She never stopped writing, completing seven books (five for Children of Pisces) while she stayed home as a single mother raising her one-year-old twin son and daughter and working as a childminder. During the COVID-19 lockdown, she introduced her eleven-year-old twins to this series, who fell in love with it. She is at her happiest making up adventures in a quiet room with the fire crackling and cats jumping on the keyboard. Rachael loves to have fun, jumping out of a perfectly good plane, diving deep beneath the ocean, swimming with dolphins and taking her children in a hot air balloon over the Valley of the Kings in Egypt. They barely survived! She believes life is best lived to the full. Over the years, she has broadened her experiences from computer science to energy healing by becoming a holistic well-being coach for people and animals, studying Energy, Aromatherapy and Zoopharmacognosy, as well as helping nurture creativity in others, including her children. West Midlands-born Rachael grew up surrounded by animals in North Devon, caring alone for over sixty rabbits when she was just thirteen and now having “not yet enough” pets, including four dogs and eight cats. Rachael lives in a rural area on the River Thames, on the border of Berkshire and Oxfordshire. Once her twins have finished education, she aims to have a remote retreat where people and their pets can come to heal and replenish while she and her children keep on writing. “It has an exciting storyline, good build up, and I really liked Jax because he didn’t have powers but was smart and added a nice balance to the story. The adventure takes them to Japan and Kenya which I loved and made it more interesting to read and wanting to know what happened next.” Thomas
“The story is creative and had good pacing because it kept me interested. I loved Mikie because he always put people first even if he shouldn’t. I thought Tammy was weak at first, because she had a horrible life at the orphanage, but the animals made her cooler when she was at the island. I love how she gets more fierce as the story unravels.” Olivia
