R. Robinson is the author of Teen Girls Anxiety Survival Guide and the mother of three children. Looking back on her teenage years, Rita Robinson realizes how lucky she was to have passed this crucial stage of life in the decade she did! Aside from the typical hormones, self-consciousness, academic pressure, and navigating friendships, Robinson made it through with mild anxiety which occasionally became moderate. Now comparing this to her own daughter, R. Robinson fears for the mental health of young women today. On top of everything that she went through, teenagers are exposed to social media which is full of tragedies and global issues. The pressure to succeed is even higher. And dangers that used to be rare are now on their doorsteps. If adults crack under the pressure, it’s no wonder that teen anxiety is on the rise and is having severe consequences on their physical and mental health. The stress that teenage girls are under can lead to depression, social anxiety, poor academic results, and even eating disorders and substance abuse. They want to be independent and solve all their own problems but anxiety isn’t something they should try to resolve alone. From personal experience and extensive research, R. Robinson has helped teens, parents, and teachers to unravel the complexities of anxiety and then overcome it with simple yet highly effective strategies. Her mission is to make sure that no young woman feels isolated and as if they have to suffer from their anxiety, fears, and panic alone. Instead, by putting anti-anxiety techniques into practice, R. Robinson hopes that these young women can grow up to be strong, powerful, and confident adults. Though our daughters are growing up all too fast, they will still always be our babies and we will do whatever it takes to protect them!
