Scott Hurd is an award-winning author of five books, published in four languages.
"Forgiveness: A Catholic Approach," his first book, received an "Excellence in Publishing" award from the Association of Catholic Publishers, an honorable mention from the Catholic Press Association, and has been translated into German and Korean. A revised and expanded version was published in September 2019.
"When Faith Feels Fragile: Hope for the Wary, Weak, and Wandering," received an award in 2014 from the Catholic Press Association, placing second in the "Popular Presentation of the Catholic Faith" category. It was also designated a finalist in the Association of Catholic Publisher's "Excellence in Publishing" award competition. Selections of the book were broadcast as short videos on CatholicTV. A Polish translation was issued in August 2020, and a Korean edition was published in 2022.
"Around the Table: Retelling the Story of the Eucharist Through the Eyes of Jesus' Family, Friends, and Followers", was published by Ave Maria Press on November 3, 2016.
Hurd was also the premiere author for Ave Maria Press' "Living Gospel" series, for which he wrote Lent and Advent devotionals.
In 2022, Scott's essays were published by Salvation South, KAIROS Literary Magazine, and Pembroke Magazine, which nominated him for a Pushcart Prize.
In 2023, Scott's essays and reviews were published by Streetlight Magazine, Ohio History, The Smart Set, Cleaver, and Medicine and Meaning.
In 2024, Scott's work appeared in The Examined Life, Brevity (blog), Pensive: A Global Journal of Spirituality & the Arts, University of Richmond Magazine, and The Love Book: An Anthology from Blue Cedar Press. Allium: A Journal of Poetry and Prose, nominated Scott's essay in their summer issue for a Pushcart Prize. Scott also published five essays on tech ethics for the National Catholic Reporter.
