Greetings!
My name is Rasheeda Shaw but I also go by the alias “ Lioness Sheeda”, the one with a lioness love. That’s exactly who I am, fierce, compassionate and pure. I grew up in Jamaica, in a pretty normal middle-class Christian household.
During my early teens, I knew I never wanted to live a normal life but a purpose-filled one. I was stubborn, yet very passionate. Always loved my own way, my own voice, and my own thoughts. These thoughts are the reason I never forgot my mission to give back to Africa. I grew up seeing the tragic imagery of Africa which they constantly fed the West. Which was an Africa of famine, disease, and war, so I seek the truth to know the true stories of our wise, strong and beautiful culture. As a Caribbean native and fascinated with the history of the Caribbean and my ancestors.
Naturally, I was always curious about my African roots. So by the end of an eventful year, the self-awakening 2017, I made a lot of sacrifices to finally venture out. On New Year’s Day 2018, I journeyed forward towards an adventure to be able to give back to the African children in the recently colonized State of Namibia. “Novaturient Torch: a poetic journey to Namibia” are my poems that have been documented throughout my personal journey to and in Africa. It would be my pleasure to share them with you . It depicts a release of several emotions I went through transformed in poetic words.
This is the beginning of embracing, publishing the literary art forms of Rasheeda Shaw.
