I was born in Coney Island, in Brooklyn, NY in May of 1958. I left Brooklyn at the age of 12 and lived in the beautiful town of Galway, NY, where I attended high school, graduating in 1976. I started writing while a student in Galway. My earliest poetry was written then, as well as my first attempts at short stories. Having sensed a call to ministry since childhood, immediately after high school I enrolled in the Apostolic Pentecostal Bible School, which was located in Schenectady, NY. After finishing that course of study, I had a great opportunity for advanced theological study when Wide World of Truth, Texas-based school, opened a new branch in Schenectady, and I enrolled immediately. My language studies actually began when I was about eleven, when I pestered Greek friends to teach me elements of their language. At the age of 14, I learned French, and at 19, Hebrew. I taught myself to read Russian in the late 1980s. My Greek and Hebrew abilities were sufficient to begin reading and studying scripture in the original languages by 1979. In 1980, I helped to found the world's first LGBT-affirming Apostolic church in Schenectady. I also created a ministerial training curriculum the following year, one that is still in use today. I began writing my novel Inside in 1983 while doing home missions work in Houston, TX, having previously done similar work in Omaha, NE. It was not until the 21st century, however, that I published Inside or any of my other books.
