Rich Wehrman was born in Iowa in 1953. He met his wife, the sometimes unwilling subject of most of his current stories, while in college. In their early dating, often he would return from classes to find a note from her tied to his bicycle. After "stalking" him for 3 years, he finally gave in and proposed. Married for 45 years now and retired for 6, he writes true-to-life humorous short stories of both her sewing exploits and his early retirement adjustments.
His humorous stories have been published in several national magazines. "Pushing a Thread and All Her Other Buttons - Retirement Tales From a Sewist's Spouse" is his first book that is a collection of these anecdotal retellings, meant to appeal to both sewists and their spouses.

He has been blessed with reviews from well known author/educators in the sewing world:
As a person who is of the age to retire and is a lifelong sewer (now there's a tricky Webster word). I tore myself away from PR (you have to read the book) to read this little gem of a book. I howled, I related, and I couldn't put it down. I suggest that you "might, could, maybe" read this ASAP. It is really fun!

...if only ALL female Sewists could be blessed with a Sewing Husband so supportive and understanding of their need to create with needle and thread! Rich's empathetic sense of humor regarding his wife's love of sewing is a treat to read - and to pass on to those who live with you for their "illumination."
---Londa Rohlfing author and sewing Educator
This book captures life in retirement with such humor. Sewing is a big part of my life so I totally related to he and his wife’s interactions. They sounded very familiar to similar discussions at my house. The book is a fun read and made me giggle.

Alas… the woes of an SOS (spouse of sewer). A fun read and a great little gift item. Richard Wehrman gives readers a peek behind the curtain to see what happens when a woman's sewing habits and her spouse's retirement collide. I alternated between knowing nods, giggles and guffaws of recognition as he recalled the impact of his wife Beth's fabric obsession on his own male pursuits. There seems to be a time warp involved. Every woman knows the definition of retirement. "So little money … so much husband." But I never realized that her spouse (and probably my own too) would, if diagnosed with 6 months to live, would want to spend them in a fabric store because it would then feel like an eternity.
