I teach parenting skills to incarcerated dads. I've talked with hundreds of men (and boys) about raising their children.
Many had young lives that put them on dark paths leading to:
Drug and alcohol addiction
Unplanned teenage pregnancies
Poverty and homelessness
Crime
Terrorism
Pornography
Gang involvement
Gun violence
Failed marriages
Attempted suicide
I get sad, and then angry when I hear about tragedies like these happening to our young people - especially when I know that caregivers can do things to lessen the likelihood of any of these tragedies from every happening.
So, I'm compelled to help parents put their children on paths leading to happiness and success, while at the same time helping them reduce their struggling and enjoy the parenting journey.
My newest book is "911, What is Your Parenting Emergency."
Everything in this book centers around 5 words that I believe are the most POWERFUL 5 words a parent can live by:
Meet the 4 Emotional Needs.
You see, every child has 4 emotional needs that must be met. When parents meet these needs, they can expect good things to happen:
1. They will strengthen relationships with their children.
2. They will see an increase in cooperation.
3. They will build a strong family where their children learn and practice good values.
4. They will increase the likelihood their children will make good choices, even when parents are not around.
Now when parents do NOT meet these needs (whether they know about them or not), that’s when struggling happens. That’s when children become DEFIANT and get into trouble. That’s when parents get overwhelmed and stressed out. I want you to KNOW the 4 Emotional Needs so here they are. All children need:
1. a sense of belonging
2. a sense of personal power
3. to be heard and understood
4. boundaries
This book teaches the 15 skills NECESSARY to meet those 4 emotional needs. I’ve done the research so parents don’t have to. That will save parents time, and eliminate the frustration of having to read a lot of books.
I’ve made this book easy to read and easy to understand. I’ve left out the “fluff” (the non-essential material) to make this book short and to the point. I’ve tried to eliminate EVERY excuse a parent could have for NOT reading this book.
NOTHING will make a more positive difference in the lives of our children than to grow up in a family where parents practice good parenting skills every day.
Here’s your call to action.
Buy this book. Practice its principles. See if you don’t notice a significant positive change in your family in just a few days.
