Thank you to everyone who has helped my last novel, The Tormenting Beauty of Empathy, become Amazon's #1 ranked novel in Contemporary Literary Fiction in October 2021, and my most recent novel, We Do What We Must, reach Amazon's Top 25 in Historical Fiction in October 2022. My novels address the larger ethical and spiritual questions we face, through memorable characters as they interact with family, friends, and the world at large. I hope that you enjoy and are moved by my work. My first novel, Love, Loss, and Lagniappe, was inspired by actual events in my life. It explores the journey of self-discovery after heartbreaking loss, while revealing the scientific basis for the meaning of life (You’ll have to read it to find out!). My next novel, Panicles, follows the fates of two families, one wealthy and powerful, the other blue collar, from a chance meeting at a Florida poolside, to the highest levels of politics and power. This sweeping saga of love, war, money, and power leaves each family weighing their duty to their family versus service to their country. It all leads to a fateful choice—a sacrifice—which could change the course of history. My third book, The Tormenting Beauty of Empathy, follows Hana, a young Guatemalan immigrant, mute from childhood tragedy, as her quiet life is upended by the birth of a daughter who turns out to be different. And special. The kind of special that soon draws worldwide attention, for the better, and worse… My most recent novel, We Do What We Must, recounts the story of the true life Giacona family, who emigrated from Sicily to New Orleans in the 1890s. They came to the US to escape the influence of The Mafia, only to be confronted by the same challenges in the New World. I was proud to be named Louisiana Independent Author of the Year for 2020, and my works have won numerous awards, including the Feathered Quill Book Awards and the Readers’ Favorite Book Awards. I live in New Orleans and New York City with my wife Lisa, near our beloved grown children.
