Robert Jones: I am now retired. Before retirement I was qualified as a Clinical and Counselling Psychologist and was registered in both fields with the Health Care Professions Council (HCPC) I was also a Chartered Member of the British Psychological Society (BPS) and was an Associate Fellow of the BPS (AFBPsS).
During the current worldwide health climate; it's difficult for individuals to find psychologists with whom they can interact. Because of this difficulty, self help books that individuals buy, to assist them through crises need to be well written. Thus, I urge my readers to tell your hurting friends about my books; and whether they have helped you.
Prior to my psychological studies I gained a PhD in Nutritional Science, and prior to that, I was a high school teacher. My nutritional studies allowed me to help myself to overcome cancer in my mouth. Since that time I have had the privilage of helping many people through a variety of physical health difficulties.
It is with this background that I wrote "Practical Psychology for Clinical Psychologists". This was written to help train other psychologists. "Practical Psychology: Home Edition for Self Help" was designed for those, like yourself, who feel that they can help themselves but need a little guidance. This book gives clear instruction on the interventions that have been proven to work in the therapy room, with modifications to suit the person who is working alone on their issues.
"Practical Nutrition" followed the successful publication of the other two books. I considered the facts that there are a great number of individuals who would like to make lifestyle changes for their health's sake but do not understand the science behind health and nutrition. I also considered the facts that a great many books have been published over the years, with the idea of informing their readers about the "best" foods to eat, but neglect to inform their readers of the lack of science behind their claims. Practical Nutrition, therefore, gives its reader the background behind a personal journey through asthma, on to cancer, then back to a condition that I had never experienced before - TRUE HEALTH. This book then provides the reader with the methodology for making changes that can be permanent in providing health that is open to anyone. It is an approach to health that incorporates a lifestyle change. That lifestyle change is based on the science of nutrition. Like everything that I write, It is evidence based.
"Practical Nutrition 2nd Edition" follows the same themes as the first edition. It does, however, include a further chapter on elements related to mad-cow disease, how it originated, and how to prevent those elements from hurting the individual.
