Dr. Roger Parrott as serves as president of Belhaven University in Jackson, Mississippi since 1996. Roger is one of America’s most experienced university presidents, leading Belhaven University, a doctoral level institution, highly regarded as one of only 36 schools in the world working at the highest level of collegiate Arts programs. Belhaven was named in 2021 to “Best University to Work For” by the Chronicle of Higher Education, and Roger was recognized as one of "The 10 Most Visionary Education Leaders of 2021" by Education Magazine. For a quarter-century he served as in board leadership roles with Lausanne Movement and The Mission America Coalition and was chairman of the 2004 Forum for World Evangelization. His board service has given him extensive international experience around the world, with deep University and personal ties to South Korea in particular. He is the author of Opportunity Leadership: Stop Planning and Start Getting Results (2022) and The Longview: Lasting Strategies for Rising Leaders (2009). Roger earned his Ph.D. from the University of Maryland in Higher Education Administration and has served for 21 years in the presidency, previously to Belhaven was president of Sterling College in Kansas. Dr. Parrott is a third-generation College president, and when first elected to the office was one of America’s youngest college presidents at age 34. Belhaven University has become distinctive in the Arts, and are the one of only 36 schools earning national accreditation in all four of the primary Arts – Theatre, Music, Visual Art, and Dance. Belhaven has been repeatedly named as one of “America’s Best Christian Colleges” and “100 Best Buys in American Colleges and Universities,” as well as recognized by “Best Christian Workplaces.” Along with his leadership of Belhaven, Dr. Parrott served the broader Church as a board officer of the Mission America Coalition, a collaborative effort of 100 denominations and 400 service ministries who have joined together for evangelism in America. And he serves as a board officer of the Lausanne Committee for World Evangelization a global effort encompassing most evangelical denominations and organizations world-wide, and was chairman of the 2004 Forum for World Evangelization held in Thailand. He has served as a board member of the Council for Christian Colleges and Universities, the National Association of Independent Colleges and Universities, and currently serves as board chairman for Leighton Ford Ministries. Roger’s previous board service includes the Mississippi organizations: Association of Colleges and Universities (term as chair); Jackson Medical and Education District (term as chair), USA International Ballet Competition, Jackson Council Boy Scouts of America, Mississippi Symphony Orchestra, University Club of Jackson, Metro Jackson Salvation Army, Eudora Welty Foundation. He has also served on National and International Organizations including: National Association of Intercollegiate Athletics, International Festival of the Arts, Asian Access His wife, MaryLou, earned her PhD in English from the University of Maryland and serves as Professor of English at Belhaven University, specializing in Ancient Greek literature and Shakespeare.
