Ron Coury, born in Brooklyn New York in 1952, formed a bond of friendship with a group of guys who have remained as close as two coats of paint for 60 years. At age 19, he enlisted in the United States Marine Corps developing a friendship with South Philadelphia native Dan Hughes, that would take them through the Corps together and deposit them in a young, vibrant Las Vegas in 1974. That friendship became a business partnership in multiple ventures and through many challenges as Las Vegas grew to become a worldwide visitor’s destination for over 40 million travelers. Political and police corruption, unsavory business competitors, and a monumental fight to survive esophageal cancer would challenge Coury's every fiber, as he circumvented the spears and arrows that came his way. Subsequent friendships and eventual partnerships with Don Tamburro, Tom Boeckle and others would involve Coury in a variety of endeavors, including gaming, taverns, graphics and printing, automobile dealerships, the limousine business, and children's education. One challenge would even pose the threat of a half century of incarceration if the elements of powerful corruptive forces had their way. His memoir "Tenacity," is a first-hand account of what he faced, and how those challenges were met.
