Award-winning consultant, author and lecturer, Rosemary DeCuir-McKown has dedicated her 35-year career in senior services to coaching struggling families in successfully managing the needs of a loved one with dementia. Her professional understanding of the challenges of memory loss was enhanced by her own experiences managing her mother, who was afflicted with dementia in 2014.
In addition to her advocacy services, she has successfully conducted hundreds of mediations that have helped countless individuals to avoid costly conservatorship battles and learn to co-manage a loved one. In 2010, personal coaching packages were added to the menu of services.
Prior to starting her consultative service company in 2004, Rosemary’s industry experience included senior and memory care program development, troubleshooting, sales and management work, as well as training for professionals, para-professionals, and organizations. She enjoys lecturing in universities to students in the fields of nursing, gerontology and social services, as well as serving as a guest presenter at symposiums on the subject of dementia and challenging family dynamics.
Rosemary has authored numerous articles and training materials in her industry, focusing specifically on dementia, interpersonal conflict resolution and the difficulties that families face. Her second book, The Caregiving Con – Spotting and Stopping Elder Fraud Against Your Loved One, will be released in spring 2022 along with up-to-date training videos for professionals, agency caregivers and family members, respectively.
Rosemary is the developer of the Care-ontology™ Program of Caregiving with Excellence, explaining the term Care-ontology as her term that “captures the essence of the study and practice of successfully managing a senior's care.”
A natural advocate, Rosemary has been active since 1983 in a volunteer capacity with programs and ministries serving children in the foster system and those with developmental disabilities, suicide and child abuse prevention efforts, and related humanitarian causes.
