If the children in your lives enjoy the Pilatecise books as a good story, to inspire movement, active and imaginative play, and or to inspire them to start writing themselves, then Pilatecise will be smashing all its goals. S. Y. Harris (Sarah) is an experienced Pilates teacher and educator who loves to encourage all generations to fall in love with good movement. Harris takes pride in always delivering enthusiasm and tailored advice to all her wonderful clients that span the decades. In 2013 Harris completed her 2-year mentorship with the sensational Pilates Elder Lolita San Miguel in Florida, USA. Lolita gave Harris the title of 2nd Generation Master Pilates Teacher. At this point, Harris’ three young children were still all under eight years old and she wanted to include her whole family in her Pilates journey, including her husband, a well-respected Physiotherapist (together, they run a Physio and Pilates Clinic in Thatcham, Berkshire, England). Hence, the Pilatecise concept was born. Harris has always taken great pleasure in being creative and enjoys her active imagination. Keen to harness a child's spirit of fun and drive to learn, Harris set to create characters with superpowers and animal guides to encapsulate her message. Harris' biggest and most honest critics would be the children themselves...and so far they have all loved it. Harris is now ready to share, on a wider scale the Pilatecise concept with as many children as possible and with other Pilates teachers, school teachers and families - so the essence of Pilatecise is now a series of books to share with you all. Harris has always been eager not to preach to children but rather let the story whisk them along and encourage lots of questions. The Pilatecise stories can be enjoyed as a stand-alone children's adventure book, but they also have the potential to share a journey of Pilates, good movement, and mindfulness - to assist each child to make the most of their development years. Pilatecise has been in the making for over 10 years (established in 2012) and Harris is excited and a little nervous to now share her stories with you. Over the years, Harris has received pictures, thank you notes, story wishes, and more from the children that love Pilatecise and that truly makes her heart sing. Harris’ day-to-day work is at her Physio and Pilates clinic, where she enjoys working mostly with adults that can vary from clinical specialist sessions, those working on their own goals and those pursuing a career in sport. Harris also trains others to become qualified Pilates teachers through their teacher training school. Harris loves it when she gets invited to work with a group of children too but for the Pilates legacy to thrive in the younger generation, Harris hopes to inspire many other teachers, both in fitness and academics, to use her books as a launching platform to inspire the next generation to fall in love with Pilates, active play, fitness and sports. Harris suggests after reading each chapter, take a pause and act out the chapter and let your imagination run wild with ideas as you discuss what the characters get up to. Harris is also a busy mum to her now three utterly gorgeous teenagers (a.k.a. taxi driver and chief negotiator) and hopes just like she has - that other families will enjoy using the Pilatecise stories as an opportunity to share movement and Pilates together. One other consequence of Harris’ work, is that children start to write their own stories just for fun and they love to hear how Harris forms her storyboards – "It is so rewarding to read and see the ignition of a child's imagination."
