As a child raised in the Southwest on the border of one of the largest oil fields in the US and the Navajo Nation, I was a lonely nerd. With no interest in rodeo or baseball, I spent my time reading. My heroes were fictional characters or great novelists and I soon started scratching out my own stories.
In middle school I discovered Middle Earth Role Playing. I immediately fell into the story-teller role and for the next decade my life was filled with creating new epic stories every week.
I wrote my first novel in college, a terrible derivative work filled with angst and overly dramatic prose. Thankfully, I have had the good sense to preventing it from escaping into the wild. That said, there was just enough good stuff in it to encourage me to make another attempt years later.
In recent years I've embraced my geekieness and have set to work turning my writing hobby into a career as a novelist. I love eclectic, beautiful adventures and strive to bring hints of great authors like Neil Gaiman and Bernard Cornwell into my own story telling. While I originally wrote for adults, I've realized I'm still fifteen at heart, so I focus on writing for Young Adults now.
I live in the beautiful city of Colorado Springs, where all the exciting outdoor activities are wasted on me, though the ever-changing views fire my creativity like few things can. I spend the shreds of my free time playing with my wife, children, brothers, sisters, friends, nephews and little nieces.
