Sam Osman studied modern languages at Clare College, University of Cambridge. She worked briefly in advertising before joining the BBC where she was active in promoting diversity on both sides of the camera. She spent 25 years making documentaries and was the Talks Commissioner for the launch of BBC Four.
As a published novelist, represented by Stephanie Thwaites at Curtis Brown, she has written for children, young adults and adults. Her first Middle Grade novel, Quicksilver, was published by Scholastic in 2010, followed by two YA thrillers, Chasing the Dark and If You Were Me, both published by Chicken House. She has been long-listed for the Carnegie medal for children's literature, and the Branford Boase prize for debut fiction. In 2017, her first psychological thriller, Her Perfect Life, was published by Harper Collins.
Bookouture is currently publishing her psychological thrillers, Gone Before, A Good Mother and The Mistake I Made.
Sam has lived and worked in the Sudan - where her father was born - the Lebanon, USA and Kenya. She is a trustee of I Afrika, a Kenyan charity that educates and rehabilitates street-connected children.
She sits as a magistrate in London.
