Sam Hunter was born in LaPaz, Bolivia in the middle 1950's. His parents, Earl and Mabel Hunter, were missionaries with the Church of the Nazarene. Sam had an adventuresome childhood as his parents moved from LaPaz, Bolivia to Moses Lake, Washington; Eugene, Oregon; Caranavi, Bolivia; Ikot Anang, Nigeria; Springfield, Oregon; and Pasadena, California. While living in Nigeria Sam had a monkey and a Basenji! He is a "third culture kid" with all of the mixing of languages, cultures, and locations. Sam graduated from high school in Burley, Idaho and then accompanied his parents to Green River, Wyoming and Tulsa, Oklahoma before attending Northwest Nazarene University in Nampa, Idaho. He has a bachelor's degree from Northwest Nazarene University, an MBA from Willamette University, and a PhD from Gonzaga University. In the world of work Sam spent 26 years in local congregational church administration, he worked as an Economic Development Consultant with the Kansas City Development Council, was the Manager of the Research Data Center of the Mid America Regional Council. At the present time Sam is developing products for the elderly and disabled as well as writing. Innovation is a key interest of Sam's. He started a successful puppet troupe, purchased and renovated an inner city house in Kansas City, Missouri; started a 10 week long summer day camp called Quest, and was in the leadership team to start a new local congregation. Sam is married to Colleen, a piano teacher. They have two young adult children. Sam and Colleen currently reside in Coeur d'Alene, Idaho.
