'Shaun Clarke' is the pen-name of the bestselling author, W. A. Harbinson, who, under his own name, writes novels very different from Shaun Clarke's SAS thrillers. Hence the need for a pen-name. In the mid-1990s, W. A. Harbinson, as 'Shaun Clarke', originated and then wrote twelve books for Bloomsbury Publishing's 22 SAS series of 'factoid' novels, so described because, although fictional, they were all based on real-life SAS operations, covering the whole history of the Regiment, from its beginnings during the Second World War to the present day. Though the series was hugely successful, with total sales numbering in the millions, Clarke wanted to break free from the limitations of the series and write 'different', more ambitious, kinds of SAS novels. The first of these, published by Simon & Schuster,London, was THE EXIT CLUB, a 715-page epic covering in fictional terms the complete history of the Regiment. This was followed by others, all published in both hardback and paperback, some for Simon & Schuster, some for Hodder & Stoughton,London. Four of these books, THE OPIUM ROAD, DRAGON LIGHT, and his two highly controversial 'Belfast' novels, UNDERWORLD and RED HAND, are now available on Amazon as Kindle e-books. Clarke recently re-edited and updated THE EXIT CLUB as a 5-volume series, totalling 925 pages, also available on Amazon as Kindle e-books. Details about 'Shaun Clarke' are included in the W. A. Harbinson Website: www.waharbinson.eu.com
