My career as an advertising creative director has taken me all over the world. I’ve won a few industry awards including a Scottish BAFTA nomination and worked with the likes of Sir Michael Horden, Harry Enfield, Brian Cox, Xena, Warrior Princess (Lucy Lawless). A few of my ads have appeared on Jasper Carrot’s Commercial Breakdown. My short stories have appeared in a variety of publications in the US, UK and Asia. My short film screenplay was shortlisted for the Tropfest Festival and my play, The Ways of the Country, has been staged at the Carriageworks Theatre, Leeds. My play, Jam, was staged in 2014 at the Palace Theatre, Southend. In 2004 my first novel, Thicker than water, was short-listed, for the Fish Publishing, Best Unpublished Novel Prize. The Sleepwalker’s Introduction to Flight was published by Macmillan in 2008 and by Pan and Grazanti in 2009. The novel was nominated for a UK Crimefest Award in 2009. My latest work (Deixis Press 2021) is an historical novel set in 1829 London titled Some Rise by Sin. Tracy Chevalier had this to say about it: "I felt I was eavesdropping on genuine 19th-century grave robbers . . . the author's skilled prose . . . convinced me. I felt I was there in the rough and tumble streets of 1830s London. Grotesque, pathetic, yet with poignant moments of calm and welcome humour." - Tracy Chevalier You can read the preview chapters on my website: sionscottwilson.co.uk
