When I was in high school, I dreamed of moving to an island and writing romantic, yet funny, love stories. Although a girl in high school broke my heart, I never lost my passion for telling stories about my awkward romantic encounters. (Yes, it's true: I once closed my eyes, puckered up and kissed a wall when Sherry Johnson eased out of range.) Today I'm living my dream. While fiercely protective of my privacy (I refuses to divulge the name of the island from which I write), I remain loyal to my readers (both of them), and give glimpses into my pain, while lacing my stories with a little humor. TRUE FACT: I am an award-winning novelist and the author of "In Heat", "Puppy Love", "Paws On My Heart", "Hound Dog Heart", and "That Dog Won't Hunt" - all of which have been pulled from publication. (In "Summers' Love" you will learn why my former publisher yanked my books and purchased ALL used copies. You can't even get the old copies on Amazon!) My latest novel, written entirely by me, is a romantic comedy about a best selling novelist (me) who “outsources” his writing to a church secretary on Ocracoke Island on the Outer Banks of North Carolina. When his “Holy Ghost Writer” goes off the rails and begins writing Amish, paranormal, sci-fi, vampire-laced, zombie-filled, Westerns, Stu (me) is forced to learn to love and write all by his lonesome self. But of course Stu is not really alone because this is a romantic comedy with the classic W formula where boy meets girl, boy loses girl, boy gets girl back, boy loses girl again, and ends up with a dog. The girl in this case is Kate Winston, a stun-gun sales person who host taser parties in her about-to-be-foreclosed-upon condo in Georgetown. Kate has serious trust issues, but when her taser party gals insist Kate deliver autographed copies of Stu’s latest novel, she has no choice but to comply. And thus … the two are thrown together for a week of fun and fireworks. Is it great writing? I doubt it. Like I said, I had help with my previous novels. But I promise you it's not the worst romance novel on Amazon. And we have to start somewhere. I did my best.
