Thank you, Jesus, for making me a Country Girl! That perfectly describes me—I have a deep love for both God and the countryside. I was raised in a small agricultural town in South Central Illinois, where my dad worked as a farmer, and my mom took care of Dad and six kids. It felt like we were two separate families— the first five siblings and then my sister and I, who arrived late to the party! My hardworking parents instilled a strong work ethic in each of us children. I started working at age 15, and now, at 67, I still enjoy the fruits of my labor. However, my life didn't unfold according to plan.
I've experienced marriage, divorce, remarriage (to the most amazing man), and after 25 years of a gold medal marriage- widowed.
My blessings include one biological daughter (plus a great Son-In-Law), two wonderful bonus children (plus my one and only daughter-in-law), and six grandchildren—three boys and three girls.
Additionally, I find joy in the activities of my six teenage grandchildren, who constantly introduce me to new experiences. I am now retired after a 40-year career in Administration for a Private Not-For-Profit agency. Throughout my life, I have been called by God to various endeavors, including state and federal project development in the fight against poverty, serving as a leader for the South Central Illinois Continuum of Care for the Homeless in our mission to end homelessness across 18 counties, and working with Marketplace Chaplains for 15 months. I also teach a Sunday School class curriculum called "Kingdom Singles."
Through my loss journey and as an empty nest widow, I've learned difficult lessons the hard way. I am passionate about leveraging my experiences coming alongside to support and guide other empty nest widows. Building a community of individuals obsessed with the rebirth of their worth is my passion, and most importantly, offering a compassionate understanding from someone who has been there.
My purpose in life is to love God. Living that out, I have published my first book after retirement, and I hope the words within these pages inspire you. I have been looking for you and am honored that you chose my book to jumpstart your journey!
