Science fiction inspired me to become an engineer. Whether working in R&D or IT, I still read and began writing science fiction because what I read didn't fit the trends I saw. My stories are overwhelmingly science fiction, though there are a few fantasy stories. My darker science fiction have found success in the horror genre, in part because an editor told me a story about death by nanites stands out among the ghost stories, vampire stories, yet another quiet guy at the end of the bar who is either a serial killer or hunting the serial killer. My lighter science fiction stories reflect hope for the human race, though not without effort, sacrifice or other costs. I am a science and technology columnist with Liberty Island Magazine and freelance technical writer.
