Mrs. Devine is a wife, mother, attorney, and an elected official.
At age 29, Mrs. Devine made history when she was first elected as a member of City Council, becoming the first African American female elected to city council and the first African American to be elected at-large. She has also worked on local, state and national campaigns, to include the Presidential campaign of our 43rd President, Barack Obama.

Mrs. Devine continues to make headlines as a true civil servant who is not afraid to stand up for what is right even if it is unpopular. She is a champion of many causes including the War on Poverty, the fight against domestic violence, the empowerment of youth and the promotion of healthy lifestyles.
Mrs. Devine is one half of a dynamic couple. She is married to Jamie L. Devine, a member of the Richland One Board of School Commissioners. Although, the Devine’s continue to be very busy in the community, their priority is being parents to their 2 daughters, Tamia and Jade. They are also the parents to a beautiful angel baby, James Henry, who was born into heaven on August 28, 2014.
The Devines first book, Born into Heaven: Lessons of Love, Faith and Reclaiming Your Joy in the Midst of a Storm was released in September 2015 and quickly reached #1 bestselling status on Amazon in 3 different categories. In this book,the couple shares their story of losing their baby boy, who was stillborn. Since the release of their book, the Devines have become sought after speakers on the topic of baby loss, faith and marriage.
