Tammy Jones was born in 1967 in Everett, Washington. Her father, who was part Snohomish Indian, came from a rough and tumble family of 15 children--all raised on a farm on Whidbey Island, Washington back in the 1930's and 40's. Her mother had only one sibling and was the daughter of a traveling musician/minister. By the early 50's, Tammy's parents, Ray and Joan Porter, started a family of which she is the third in a line of four children. It is safe to say that they all grew up in a strict religious household surrounded by a strong musical environment. As a result, Tammy is passive by nature. She plays a restful style of piano and owns six accordions. She loves animals almost to a fault. Besides music and animals, Tammy has always thrived on accomplishing goals far outside her comfort zone. These aspirations have landed her in various unrelated jobs and interesting projects. She's gone from banking to custom furniture building--and from general contracting to full-time logging. Although she has always enjoyed regaling her family and friends with her real-life stories, in late 2009, her interest in becoming an author actually began as a form of therapy after experiencing her first trip to Alaska. In late 2011, ALASKA BOUND: One man's dream...One woman's nightmare! hit the world-wide market. By 2012, ALASKA BOUND had won an Independent Publishers Award aka an "IPPY." Her book of honest revelations was chosen to receive a silver medal in the category of Best Non-fiction for the West Pacific region. Alaska Bound is available in paperback and on Kindle.
