I've been writing since I was eight years old and couldn't ever imagine doing anything else. My first books were Enid Blyton rip-offs but I gradually found my voice and wrote a book called Livewire when I was fifteen. It was published ten years later and went on to win an International White Raven Award. Three more YA fiction followed and now I write commercial fiction, plays and dabble in journalism.
To date I have written twenty-one novels - I write crime under the pen name 'Martina Murphy'.
