I take great pride in my craft, both in the research (historical or otherwise)and in both emotionally moving my reader as well as educating them.
Quotes: 'Success is not a brand, success is emotionally illuminating the paradoxes and beauty of life in a way that is memorable.'
In terms of my historical fiction, I would say that the 17th century is my era, I am particularly fascinated by that moment in time when science emerged from what was previously known as mysticism or magical, from the religious to the secular with the dawn of enlightenment.
In terms of my thrillers - I tend to set them against a backdrop of conflict, in minority communities struggling to survive - throwing light onto the forgotten corners of history i.e. The Basques under Franco (The Map), the Roma's experience of the Holocaust (The Stolen), usually with a thread of mysticism woven into real history.
'Learner is that rare beast - a wordsmith who can spin a yarn' London Times
'There's a gap between Dan Brown and Robert Harris - T.S Learner fills it thrillingly' - The Reader
In terms of my erotic short stories - sex for me is an allegory of power-play, of the absurd and often poigant foibles of human behaviour, I also try and make it as visceral (without descending into pornography) and as moving as possible.
'Taking in the panoply of sexual desire, each tale shudders with full-frontal detail in a style that is lyrical and forensically accurate' The Reader
