ABOUT THE AUTHOR Tom Copeland I grew up in a very close knit family in the desert of Southeastern New Mexico. After graduation from High School I moved to Indiana where I started my working career. I was drafted into the US Army in August 1966 and served in Vietnam with the 2nd Battalion, 2nd Infantry Regiment, 1st Infantry Division from February 1967- January 1968. After my release from the Army I returned to working and raising a family. I showed some very early signs of PTSD, but as years progressed IT began to creep into my life and become more prevalent. Over the years, IT took IT's toll, but with counseling, and a return trip to Vietnam in 2013, I have managed to put many of my issues behind me, and/or, learned to control them. I was married in 1966, one month before my deployment to Vietnam. I have two daughters and three grandsons from that marriage. I was divorced in 2008 due to, among other things, the effects of PTSD on the marriage. I moved back to New Mexico in 2008, and on Veteran’s Day, 2010, I married a lady I knew in High School. My working career spanned 42 years and five companies with jobs ranging from a cleaner/sweeper at a Consumer Electronics Company to President of a Medical Device Manufacturer. I have two degrees from Purdue University in Organizational Management. I am now retired and living in Oklahoma with my second wife and enjoying my hobbies, including fishing and carving.
