My first husband and I ran a recycling business for a couple of years, then traveled and worked odd jobs on our travels. We bought five acres of sagebrush in California. After a couple of years, we longed for the green of Washington state, so we sold that property and bought a beautiful five acres in Washington state. We had a couple of children. A couple of years later, we bought a restaurant and ran it for four years. I sold it six months before my husband died of cancer. I took care of him in a hospital bed in our living room for the last seven months, and handled the kids and the restaurant, plus fed the horses, goats, chickens, rabbits, dogs, and cats. Oh, and chopped firewood. I raised the kids as a single mother after that. I started going to college part-time when my youngest went to preschool. It took years, but I earned my Bachelor’s degree. I was an office manager for about 15 years. I met my second husband when the kids had moved out of the house. He’s a musician. We moved to San Diego. The adult kids followed us and got married and had children in San Diego. Then, after a few years, we bought a motorhome and traveled the country for 17 years. I did the booking, and he performed one-hour concerts. We hit every state except Vermont. We’re now snow birds, San Diego in the winter and Washington state in the summer. We have some rentals, and I sell options and still have the music work. I also write books, now.
