Originally from Michigan, Vicki Veasey now calls Florida home. She credits her 13+ years as her parents’ caregiver as a true eye-opening experience that allowed her to learn more about herself that she ever realized was possible. Because of the challenges of caregiving, in addition to grappling with recent widowhood, Vicki turned to God and eventually embraced her experiences as a true gift from God. A graduate of the University of Oklahoma where she earned a Master’s degree, Vicki is an advocate, coach and mentor for widows, widowers, Alzheimer’s & dementia caregivers. When not researching additional writing projects, writing or editing manuscripts, Vicki can often be seen walking her two pups (both rescues), curling up with a good book, exploring new places or revisiting places that warmed her heart, enjoying hobbies (scrapbooking, needlepoint, or cross stitch) and making new friends. As she likes to say, “If I ever find a few odd moments, I’d love to learn how to play the piano, I just can’t seem to find the time!” Maybe one of these days… If you are a dementia or Alzheimer’s caregiver check out Vicki’s Caregiving Tips from the Heart videos which she posts weekly on Facebook, videos created specifically for dementia caregivers, and her monthly newsletter, of the same name.
