Renaissance woman is the phrase used by leadership instructor and author Pete DeLisle, PhD, as he introduces Vickie Maris in the executive education classroom. Her music, speaking and writing is threaded with her eclectic interests. Vickie challenges audiences to include silence or meditation in their daily routine, and to journal. It expands the opportunity to reflect, learn and evolve. It's through her songwriting and her own journaling and book writing that she takes readers and audience members on paths of reflection that include laughter, tears and rich conversation. Vickie's many interests stem from the variety of activities she pursued in her youth. At age 3, she was memorizing songs from the record album I Do, I Do, that her parents received on their 25th wedding anniversary. She had a quest to be selected for the Paul Dixon "Paul Baby" Show. At 4, she was riding her first pony, Sugar Foot, and following her parents and much older sisters, to their wide variety of activities. With the many positive influences and role models around her during her growing-up years, author, Vickie J. Maris, developed an incessant drive for learning. During her career she has been in communications, sales and marketing, business development and learning experience design roles in both corporate America and in higher education. She keeps current on uses of social media in marketing and is a certified trainer and facilitator for high performance teams. She is an Authorized Partner - Everything DiSC and The Five Behaviors of a Cohesive Team. Vickie Maris is a singer-songwriter, keynote speaker, instructor, podcast host. In her conference talks, her topics range from "tuning out noise with daily silence" to "understanding self for improving workplace culture" to "digital transition of content," to "uses of livestreaming in a relationship marketing strategy." Vickie, in her life as a recording artist, performs as a soloist, and in duos/trios and a 7-piece band alongside her husband, entertainer Scott Greeson.
