Whitney J. LeBlanc grew up in Louisiana, then spent more than twenty-five years in theatre and television in Hollywood as a writer, producer/ director. He has written scripts for stage, screen and television. His first novel of historical fiction is Blues in the Wind. Shadows of the Blues is the second of a planned trilogy about a Creole family. The third novel Bodacious Blues was published in 2011. When Blues in the Wind was declared out of print, by the publisher, LeBlanc re-issured Blues in the Wind-ReVisited. The story is basically the same but it has been enhanced to serve as the prequel to the trilogy. Added to this trilogy is his latest novel, The Portrait. This is a story about three people from different cultures struggling to live through the Civil Rights Movement. All of the characters attempt to visualize a brighter future, seek a growth of personal wealth, and a revelation of love and acceptance from others. The challenges in each of their lives are not unlike the ones that each of us face in our daily struggle to remain true to ourselves and yet maintain a connection to the biblical commandment to "Love your neighbor and yourselves." A challenge not easily embraced along with our constitutional admonition that all men are created equal. it is a story that has echoes and repercussions in our present-day circumstances, as we struggle to bright justice, and peace for all to our lives. This can easily be regarded as a repeat of the words from George Santayana, "Those who cannot remember the past are condemned to repeat it."
LeBlanc lives in the Napa Valley in California with his physician wife. Between writing novels, he creates stained glass windows
