William E. Patterson was born in 1931 in Montana and lived in Colorado, Wyoming, Oklahoma and Kansas while his dad pursued a career in the Depression Era oilfields. He was a high school student in Missouri when Harry Truman brought the statue of Simon Bolivar to his home State. His first wife was a graduate of Julliard School of Music and sang with the Robert Shaw Chorale. While in the U.S. Navy he was stationed at Aruba when it had the world's largest oil refinery and was visited by Queen Juliana and Prince Bernard. His experience as an engineer and economics adviser for Shell Oil Company included positions in New York, New Orleans and Houston in its Head Offices. Beginning in the 1980s, he trained and showed Cardigan Welsh Corgi dogs from California to New York, including the Westminster Show. He wrote his first memoir at age 85 and hopes to continue writing as time permits.
